young professionals/college kids/HS kids
resource that allows an exchange and flow of ideas related to their concerns:,cross country and world.
pulls together Black Student Unions across the country..maybe pulls together a big part of what they need….access to finding out or applying for jobs. so employment watch could be something to look out for when we search for sites.on top of that,we can view this is as a “finishing school” in digital form. helping young blacks prepare themselves for the new world as well as maintain what they already have. how to navigate the murky waters in a hip herway. an actual resource that people can use to better their lives.
- maybe on the college end we focus on what I could gather here? I can bring on UCLA students for sure, as in, engaging them to use resources, taking some of the black resources UCLA already uses, putting them online, duplicating and then connecting to other UC campuses in their black communities thru the black students at UCLA. that can be the focus that facebook had when they started at just harvard. maybe we take it back to the exclusivity that they had in only letting .edu and non gmail/yahoo accounts register to post in the forums etc. either that or u just log in with your facebook. small detail tho i guess. just rant-thinking.helping these people find the hidden ways to get what they want. to use shit like: http://www.kickstarter.com/ for example.
Ive always thought about a site that brings together black writers, cameramen, actors, directors as well. some creative shit

More sites:
Is this like SC for black women? I feel gay reading that site at work. From reading 3 or 4 threads, the people there seem relatively civilized though. This may be a potential traffic source, as well as a source for all links relating to black shit.

Something I notice about this site immediately is that there is too much unfocused ranting. It’s very opinionated, the articles are too long, the information is hard to locate between all the ranting, and they dont give many tips on how to change a situation. Look at their about page: http://www.verysmartbrothas.com/about-the-brothas/ just wack shit man
http://www.theroot.com/ – this site looks to be our main competition. they have compilied alot of the sites we will want. so we need to look at this and see how to make the idea alot more hip and stylish. i like the feel of artofmanliness, it feels young and college age. we need to be the facebook to theroot’s boring ass myspace, feel me?
http://wordslikewhoa.com/ -> This site sort of aggregates other blogs in a clumsy way. A rough idea of what we should do, and also a source for lots of niche black blogs.

ok going thru this…i dunno man, i kinda like the idea of sharing documents more. because as we start with one document, we can just branch those off to other documents and share those as well. seems like more options on how to frame what we want to say too. this feels kinda simple…
